It is with great sadness that we must bring you the news that Arundel House Restaurant & Rooms closed for business on Sunday, 7th August, 2011.
We arrived in Arundel eight years ago, having purchased Arundel Guest House on Monday, 1st September, 2003. After many months of hard work, Arundel House Restaurant & Rooms that you know, and have hopefully come to love, was kindly opened on Thursday, 20th May, 2004 by the Duke & Duchess of Norfolk.
Over the years we have gratefully received accolades from the English Tourism Council and the AA, achieving the highest star ratings possible for our accommodation, as well as recognition of the genius taking place in the kitchen. We have appeared consistently in the Michelin Guide, Hardens, the Good Food Guide and the Good Hotel Guide and are rightly proud of our achievements.
The past two years presented us with difficult trading conditions and we worked hard to ensure that we delivered the same high standards that you had become accustomed too both in the kitchen and front of house. We believe that we succeeded, and looked to the excellent reviews we continued to receive on Tripadvisor, and of course to the happy and contented guests that we said goodbye to after each service. It is with regret that we were unable to achieve similar commercial success to the critical acclaim we have enjoyed.
The people of Arundel welcomed us warmly when we arrived, and have gone on to support us throughout our time in the town and we thank them all for their friendship, many of which we will remember, and hold dear, long after our doors close. We also gained friends from across the country, and across continents, and we wish we weren’t having to say goodbye. Thank you all for the time that you chose to spend in our company.
Here's hoping that the next eight years bring as much laughter, camaraderie, and sense of achievement as Arundel House bought us.
